O'Neill u. a. aufführten. Glaspells Einakter (z. B. »Suppressed desires«, 1915; »Trifles«, 1916; »A woman's honor«, 1918) sind häufig Satiren auf modische Trends, während ihre längeren Stücke (z. B. »Inheritors«, 1921) Sozialkritik üben. »Alison's house« (1930) beruht auf dem Leben von Emily Dickinson. In »The road to the temple« (1926) beschrieb Glaspell die Geschichte ihrer Ehe.
